Welcome to the Center for People in Need Our mission is to
enhance opportunities for families and youth as they address socio-economic
barriers limiting their paths to success. In 2003, the Center for People in Need was founded by Lincoln community leader Beatty Brasch to bring additional resources to the low-income.
The Center does this by providing advocacy on public policies and by bringing
extra resources to agencies that serve people in need. To support its mission, the Center for People in Need provides
education and opportunities for those in need. The agency has a strong
commitment to provide care and support to at-risk populations, including the
low income, elderly, Native American, Black/African Americans, Hispanic/Latino
and refugee populations. One of the means to accomplish this is through
advocating for systemic changes. Legislative change is one of the key ways. Our Legislative database is a comprehensive tool that tracks
details of legislative bills, including hearing dates, bill status and
description, the sponsoring legislator, and the final outcome of relevant
bills. The database also tracks specific bills and legislative issues which organizations
are interested in, what action they are taking on a bill, and volunteers who are interested in pursing action on certain issues. Web sites linking to related
topics are listed so that more information is readily available. Sample
letters to senators are available for most of the bills in our database for
quick action to be taken. Thank you for visiting our site. We hope it can be helpful
for those who are committed to helping non-profit agencies and want to make a
change. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or ideas. |
